While people around me celebrate, and try to take in as much of their sense of victory as they can, I feel the same as ever. Never in my short life have I placed much faith in any elected official, or the government and political systems to actually do what is right. I woke up today like most days lately, listening the sounds of police and ambulance sirens racing around downtown. Nothing has changed in my personal world, and I don't think much will, but I hope globally things at least take a step in the right direction. The people were desperate, and I hope that they get exactly what it is they wanted.
With that,I watched a majority of the reportings from last night, and couldn't help but feel I was getting cheated on real information. I was constantly distracted by pundit rants, R2D2 like holographic projections of reporters and entertainment stars, and winner projections based on 1% of the vote being tallied to turn what really only takes 30 minutes into a 5 hour superbowl of freedoms. Television is surely more suited to entertainment than a source of news, and I will turning it off when it comes to that from here on out.
